The desire to explore the unknown and discover new knowledge is a typical human trait. Near the end of the 19th century, human kind was on the cusp of a technological revolution: the oceans had been mapped but the skies offered limitless possibilities, to boldly go where no-one had gone before.

In a continuation of my recent projects, I am interested in the resurrecting of obsolete objects that are nostalgic by nature. The form of a box kite was the precursor to modern aerofoils and paved the way, through experiments by Lawrence Hargrave during the late 1800’s, for the invention of the airplane.
